Lighting creates a new look for Marlow International

Marlow International’s Business Park has been given a fresh facelift. The former Xerox Europe headquarters situated in Buckinghamshire’s Globe Park, now boasts a striking new business lounge, cafeteria and reception area – designed by architects Sonnemann Toon with LED lighting by InStyle LED and all drivers supplied from Ecopac Power.

Centred on an existing large four-storey atrium the new design uses warm natural materials to revitalize the interior. At its heart is an impressive new lighting installation which serves to enhance and emphasise the atrium’s oak-clad lift core feature.

Ecopac supplied a mixture of 60 watt and 320 watt Meanwell LED Drivers to power 151 metres of InStyle LED’s 20-watt tape lights. These flexible strip lights output a warm white light (colour temperature 2700K), diffused by frosted aluminium profiles, the installation was completed by commercial property contractors RS Response.

A multi-let headquarters building totalling some 230,000 sq ft of office accommodation, London Metric’s Marlow International site was formally launched following a £15m remodelling after Rank-Xerox vacated the property in late 2000. The site offers flexible offices on four floors around the building’s full-height central atrium 'street', with 850 parking spaces including a basement car park.

As well as the refurbished reception areas and lighting scheme, other features include raised floors throughout the office space and a spiral staircase, emphasised by spiral fossils embedded in the entrance floors.

Landscape architects ASH created a glazed street by linking internal courtyards with the reception area, uniting the internal and external spaces of the refurbished building. Outside, they enhanced the building’s appearance with a soft-landscaped open space with sculptures, a dramatic flight of new external steps, and an avenue of semi-mature lime trees that provides access to the north car park.
