LED Drivers – Constant Current (CC) or Constant Voltage (CV)?

An important thing to consider when purchasing a LED driver is whether the application requires a constant current (CC) or constant voltage (CV) driver.

If you were planning on using the driver to power an individual LED bulb, or to run numerous bulbs in series, you would need to ensure that you get a constant current driver.

If however you were planning to run multiple bulbs in parallel, or to run LED strips, you would require a constant voltage driver.

Generally, a reliable LED supplier would state in their specification whether the driver required needs to be constant current or constant voltage.
